Adventures of Day 1 Justice Journey

Team Building

Claire's mom made us an awesome breakfast of french toast casserole and fruit and sausage!! After breakfast Dr. Supiano came to talk to us about suicide and the prevention of suicide. As a story to go off of (no offense to English teachers) we used the wikipedia sparknotes of Romeo and Juliet. We talked about what could have happened if the story had gone differently and if Romeo and Juliet did not commit suicide for the "love" of each other. Dr. Supiano also spoke to us about what could have happened if Judas didn't kill himself after betraying Jesus.

After lunch, we went through some team building exercises lead by Joe and Katie from Sky Ranch. The first exercise we did was trust falling. We had specific things to say to make sure the spotter and the faller were ready so no one got hurt. We were told to fall farther and farther until we were almost touching the ground, having to trust the person catching us fully. Then we had to wear blindfolds and do the same thing, without knowing who was behind us to catch us, really having to trust that they were there and weren't going to let us fall. We did a few other team building exercises similar to this, always having to rely on good communication and listening skills.

For the scavenger hunt, we split up into teams and were sent all over downtown Salt Lake trying to find specific locations. All we were given was a picture of the place with a few unhelpful clues on the back. Some groups finished quickly while one group... took a little longer... Our feet hurt.

We had a great small group session and closing worship to end the day.
